Masonry Spiral Stairs: A Comparison between Analytical and Numerical Approaches

چکیده
The present paper applies the Linear Arch Static Analysis (LASA), which models masonry material as unilateral, i.e., No-Tension in sense of Heyman, and Safe Theorem Limit to study spiral stairs. A comparison is made with a refined FE analysis same problem, obtained by means ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL). objective prove that LASA can be valid alternative other more complex numerical methods, such FE, especially when modeling parameters, boundary conditions, cannot exactly defined. case small staircase placed tower Nisida, island close Naples, Italy taken into consideration. results show provides fall within two limit cases terms stress overall thrust, providing at time meaningful insight equilibrium state structure.

A comparison between numerical and analytical modeling of ECAP
Recent developments in nanostructured products draw considerable attention to ultrafine grained materials. These materials are normally manufactured by different severe plastic deformation (SPD) methods. In the present study, analytical models and finite element method (FEM) are used to calculate strain imposed to a specimen that was deformed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP). In additio...

متن کاملOn Thermally Interacting Multiple Boreholes with Variable Heating Strength: Comparison between Analytical and Numerical Approaches
The temperature response in the soil surrounding multiple boreholes is evaluated analytically and numerically. The assumption of constant heat flux along the borehole wall is examined by coupling the problem to the heat transfer problem inside the borehole and presenting a model with variable heat flux along the borehole length. In the analytical approach, a line source of heat with a finite le...
متن کاملPredicting Sepsis: A Comparison of Analytical Approaches
Sepsis is a significant cause of mortality and morbidity and is often associated with increased hospital resource utilization, prolonged intensive care unit and hospital stay. With advances in medicine, there is now aggressive goal oriented treatments that can be used to help patients that may be at risk for sepsis. To predict this risk, we hypothesized that commonly used univariate and multiva...
متن کاملparotid-absorbed doses: a comparison between spiral tomography and panoramic
conclusions there was no statistically significant difference in the parotid absorbed dose between spiral tomography and a panoramic radiograph (p value = 0.18). the overall results of this study were similar to other studies. results for the tube side parotid, the average absorbed doses in spiral tomography of the anterior and posterior parts of the maxilla and mandible, with the 2 mm slice th...
